In the area of Petaling Jaya, west of Kuala Lumpur, a great urban development is under way for the establishment of a new urban centre. marking the location of a new urban development is ‘the pod’, a presentation and sales center by studio nicoletti associati.located outside of kuala lumpur, malaysia, the structure has become a landmark for the area, defining the spirit and architectural style of the future development.
modeled after natural formations and patterns generated by droplets of water, the building features a contrived spherical formthat meanders through the landscape. a series of elliptical sections, spliced and offset from each other, compose the overall unit which starkly contrasts its surrounding built and natural environment. windows consume the negative space between each panel,
varied in width and height, to break up the solid mass and introduce light into the cavernous and contoured interior.
inside, the pavilion is divided into two parts with one zone dedicated to administrative offices and the other to the main showroom. a series of ribbon-like forms wrap around the internal volume, defining and dividing the space into a progression of enclosed and protective zones.
